About This Blog

Welcome!

Hi!  I’m Meagan.  So glad you’ve stopped by!  I hope this blog is a blessing and encouragement to you and your family.  I would love for you to join me on this journey in using coupons wisely, budgeting, stretching your dollars, giving more away to others in need, and having fun in the process!

Couponing is a blessing from God that changed our lives, and I’m simply passing that blessing on.  I want God to use this blog in a mighty way to help every single one of youNo matter where you find yourself right now, couponing can help.  Not only can it help you — it can help you help others.  No matter how little or how much money you make, couponing enables everyone to give.  And that, my friends, is the beauty of couponing!

What’s in a name?

Frugal Fun and Fortune. No commas, people.  Those 3 words do not stand alone.  The word “frugal” is an adjective that describes both “fun” and “fortune” (2 nouns).  The meaning is two-fold.  First of all, I wholeheartedly believe that we can have some frugal fun here on this blog and in all aspects of our lives.  Secondly, I believe that we can create for ourselves a “frugal fortune.”  In other words, we can increase our available funds by being frugal.  So there you have it – Frugal Fun and Fortune.

My promise?

  1. You’ll learn a lot.
  2. You’ll have a blast.
  3. You’ll cut your grocery bill by at least 50%, no problem.  (And get most of your household and beauty items for free, if you play the drug store game correctly.)

What you’ll find here:

A little bit about me:

Whew!  That was a lot.  If you’re still with me, here are 15 things about myself…

  1. I am a daughter of God.  Everything I do is to bring praise to Him, including this blog.
  2. I have a wonderful husband named Kyle.  He is an incredible artist and makes dinosaur skulls for a living.  I’m pretty much married to the coolest person ever.
  3. No kids yet.  We want a large, colorful family – complete with biological and adopted kiddos.
  4. I didn’t start couponing until I got married in 2008.
  5. I believe in love, peace, social justice, and making world poverty history.
  6. My husband and I are both Vegetarians…for many different reasons.
  7. I play piano.  I own a violin that I plan to learn to play very soon.
  8. I’m an avid reader.  Give me a book, a blanket, and a cup of coffee.  These things makes my heart soar.
  9. I’m a total nerd (and proud of it).  I love all things fantasy and science fiction.  We’ll stop right there.
  10. I’ve found my Gilbert Blythe.  If you know what I mean by that, you are truly a kindred spirit.
  11. I’ve competed in the Junior Olympics – twice.  As a gymnast.
  12. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve flying in airplanes and hot air balloons.  (My dad is a pilot.)
  13. We thrive on a (small) income that would shock most people.  We have God, budgeting, simple living, and couponing to thank.
  14. I have an obsession with music.

15.  The readers of this blog bless me.  I cry and laugh because of the e-mails I receive.  I never in a million years thought God would use little-ole-me in such a powerful and meaningful way to touch others’ lives.  I am humbled beyond words.

Next to a coupon in the red typing you have what the coupon is but i didn’t know what rp stands for?? so i can find the coupon thanks

    Meagan Reply:

RP means Red Plum. It’s a type of coupon insert that usually comes in the Sunday Newspaper. If you’re new to couponing, I recommend checking out the “Beginners Start Here” tab. The couponing basics explains all of the newspaper inserts and abbreviations. Good luck! :)

WoW! Love your blog. Always fancied myself a very good couponer, but you have taught me and helped me so much. I now realize that there is still more to learn. I’m a home schooling mom who is finishing up my school year, and I hope to spend some more time on your blog studying and improving my couponing. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for starting this blog! My husband is a full-time student and only makes a little bit of money in an apprenticeship program. I make some money, but definately not enough to survive without coupons. Thanks to you I have learned how to save money (a lot of money!) My husband used to feel embarrassed using coupons and now he can’t wait to hear how much we saved. Thanks! You’re awesome! :)

I and so many others greatly appreciate you creating a coupon blog. IT helps so much and I wish I could do the same. I’m a single mom and work fulltime and have children and pets so I barely have enough time to search for the deals myself. Thank you thank you thank you. This may be your calling!

  11. Melanie says:

Also I am trying to eat healthier foods and become a vegetarian. Its so hard! So please keep those deals from Whole foods coming! I noticed you haven’t posted about whole foods in awhile. Thanks for all your work!

I loved reading your story and couldn’t help but notice how closely related it is to mine. I’ve been married a year and a half, have a teaching degree (with no teaching job), my husband is still in grad school, we live very simply, and I am a woman of God who has also asked myself the question “What am I to do with my life when I can’t get a teaching job?”
So I say all that to say that I seem to be in your situation and your blog with couponing tips has truly blessed our lives! I feel I have learned the art of couponing. We can now live very comfortably on a low budget and afford everything we need! I’m also begining to teach some of my friends how to coupon now as well!
I LOVE your blog most out of all the blogs I’ve checked out! Thanks for ALL your hard work, it helps more than you know! Good luck with all your future endeavors!

  17. I am glad that that show repeated this morning. I’ve seen the National couponers, I am glad to see someone local I hope that it will grow and prosper. I wish we could get something going on the Major Items similar to GasBuddy…for the lowest prices on meat, bread, milk, juices, etc.
Things are so tough these days are regardless of your efforts and faith…seems like someone is out there trying to take you down.

    Thank You,
    Ricky P.

I love the new blog! So much information yet so very well organized! Each person has a story {Heard the Matthew West song, Something to Say?} of how God’s worked in their life and it is amazing to see that something as simple, or not so much, as couponing has allowed God to reach others thru you! Awesome!!!

    Hi Meagan,
I was just introduced to your site when it was mentioned in my Mom-to-Mom newsletter. (Moms group at church.) I had just been looking for a good couponing site yesterday and couldn’t find one that I like so far. Yours is by far much easier to understand than the others I looked at. And I love your sweet heart for God. Good luck in all you’re doing and thanks for sharing this. I look forward to using it. :)

I just read this and yes I found my Gilbert as well. My secret dream is to visit Prince Edward Island :) . I also grew up as a gymnast, never to your level. However, I was headed for college gymnastics until I tore my rotator cuff my senior year of high school. Nevertheless, I am a firm believer in all of the lessons in discipline and teamwork that I learned through the sport.
